What is High School/Scholastic Sailing at Alamitos Bay Yacht Club?
ABYC provides a fantastic venue for high school sailing! Our High School Sailing program invites students from 8th grade to 12th grade to participate. We welcome students of all ability levels, from no experience to advanced, even if their school does not have an active team. ABYC hosts practices and provides boats and coaching from students currently from the following High Schools:
Long Beach Poly HS
Long Beach Wilson HS
Long Beach Sato HS
Los Alamitos HS
Huntington Beach HS
Home Schooled Sailors and more!
Teams travel to regattas up and down the West Coast throughout the year as members of the Pacific Coast Interscholastic Sailing Association, the governing body of the West Coast and Hawaii for high school sailing.
Practices are held on Wednesday and Friday afternoons from 3:30pm - 6:30pm. The team's first practice is Wednesday, January 30, 2019. Practice concludes on April 12th. Eighth graders are allowed to show up later once they are out of class.

*Prior to the first practice, sailors must be registered online under the registration tab. Tuition check, Club Code of Conduct, and HS Code of Conduct forms must be turned in to the Sailing Director*
$700 for Spring Semester (Wednesday & Friday)
$400 for Spring Semester (Friday Only)

*To get boats to events not at ABYC, parents are required to tow as part of the participation in the program. Only ABYC Members can tow trailers, if you have questions, please direct them to the Sailing Director.
Please note, travel costs (hotels, gas, etc.) for families/sailors are not paid for by the Club.
